| Below: A variable counterweight, moved
hydraulically in coordination with the bucket arm, and with a cable link to the
arm, keeps the excavator in equilibrium as it works. Another cable, connected
to the bucket end of the arm and operated by a powerful winch, helps the bucket
work much like a dragline. |

Above: A more typical application
of one of Long Reach Excavators' VC20s (this one with a shorter boom and bucket
arm) is ditch cleaning and contouring, here in the Croak Canal of Farmers
Irrigation Co. in Arvada, Colorado. |

LONG
REACH EXCAVATORS
was started in 1997.
We own 3 long reach excavators,
one with a reach of 73 feet (1.3 yard bucket), two with a reach of 65
feet (two yard buckets). We can go down or up 45 ft. We have cleaned 300 ponds
and have done a massive sand cleanup along I-70 for the State of Colorado.
Richard Trainer,
president of Long Reach Excavators, has had a long career in the construction
business and now specializes in cleaning ponds, lakes, irrigation canals, as
well as highway sand cleanup.
